For the last few years, Ubud has been a special place for me. It’s the perfect place to be with the loved one. A place for a long walk, a place to eat and relax, a perfect place just to do about everything. With all those nice memories I had, it’s just so difficult to describe it in words. So, two days after the wedding, Lia and I were off to Lombok for the honeymoon. We had a couple of reasons why we chose Lombok as our honeymoon destination. First and foremost because we never been to Lombok before. Lia always wanted Bali, but I’ve been a solo traveller for the past 11 years, I knew there’s always something special waiting for you if you went to visit a new destination. Second, we wanted a quiet and peaceful place. In the end, we spent two nights in Lombok at Qunci Villas, which is located at Senggigi. We found out about Qunci from a travel fair in Jakarta, where we accidentally met my doctor and my dentist, who happened to be husband & wife and just returned from their 2nd honeymoon at Qunci. Lombok itself is generally a quiet and remote place, there’s no chance a traffic jam like in Bali should happen here. Lombok’s Kuta beach was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Until this day, our honeymoon’s memory are such a wonderful thing to have. Qunci was an excellent place to stay. The place has so many things to please your senses. I remembered one morning when we had breakfast facing the sea accompanied with Billie Holiday’s songs, that’s the perfect peacefulness we’re looking for. For you who never been to Lombok, I just gave you my recommendation. One day we will return, we don’t know when. But one thing we know, we have found our island in the sun. It’s a beauty!

Brisbane, 14 October 2010 was a good day to remember. June 2003, I left Brisbane and I wondered when I’d returned. I left friends and missed so many things about this little city. I was told that the city have been improved in many ways, in which there are more people live and work in Brisbane, the city has more traffic jam, etc. I’ve been promising my fiance that one day I would take her to the cities I used to live, Brisbane and London. And after 7 years, I finally had the opportunity to return. It was a special and nostalgic feeling. I showed my fiance the University I used to go, the flat I used to stay, my favorite’s place to eat, and some other spots on the city. I couldn’t really describe the feeling. This series of black and white photographs were taken during lunch hour around Brisbane downtown. Some people know how I love doing travel photography. That day was beyond a joy.
A couple of weeks ago, I visited KL and Singapore, to buy few things for my cameras. During this one day trip, I found few interesting pictures from the street and I’m glad to share those pictures here. Back in the days, I used to bring 28mm and 50mm with my Nikon F3. These pictures were taken with Canon 7D & 50mm lens. I guess you’ll get a little bit more with the 50mm for travel photography. Now let’s begin! So for my first post, I will share some of my travel pictures from last summer in Bali. Being Indonesian, I always feel Bali is the perfect getaway for me. It’s just one and a half hour flight from Jakarta. Peaceful and quite with many beautiful sceneries as you can imagine and yet the foods are irresistible! I’ve probably been working bit too much in 2010, with the exhibition, the renovation of our new studio and gallery, Not to mention the daily and weekly work. It’s almost 10-12 hours work a day, I felt a break was very much needed. So last July, I took some time off and went to Bali just for 4 days. At first, I wanted to leave my camera at home, but I guess it would be a huge mistake after seeing all these pictures. It’s a pretty normal vacation, apart from the weather. Bali was raining for 3 days in a row, but hey Bali is still Bali, We still had a lot of fun with our friends. Now I’m back in business again! : )
