How I really miss the old days when I shot with black and white film. I never forget my favorite black and white film was always Fuji Neopan iso 400. The high contrast and the grain was second to none for me. But those days were long gone. These pictures were taken at Fashion Hall of Fame 2014, 28 August 2014, which was brought by Indonesia Tatler and Tex Saverio. Once I walked into the lobby, I knew this event would look absolutely wonderful in black and white. Thanks to Indonesia Tatler for having me. The missing dream of black and white came right back that night.
I’m pretty sure the name is already familiar in Indonesian fashion’s world. So another introduction is needless. Her works and designs speak for themselves. But it’s her spirit and dedication for her work are the things that I admire the most. The best days are yet to come. This series of portraits were made almost a year ago.
It excites me to take this assignment for Mobiliari Group, the publisher of Indonesia Tatler who wanted us to shoot this event for them. The event was a welcoming party for Nigel Barker to Jakarta, who was sponsored by Mobiliari Group to do an exclusive photo shoot for Indonesia Tatler and Jetgala magazine. For most people, Nigel Barker was well-known for his appearance as a former judge in America’s Next Top Model. But besides working on TV shows, he is also an author, filmmaker and photographer. The night was hosted by gorgeous Joey Mead King, the Asia’s Next Top Model mentor. It was raining hard a couple of hours before the event started but it didn’t really matter for the crowd who were up for a good party time. You may want to check out the video below! These photos are made for Bella Donna’s Mahligai fashion spread, August 2012 edition. I think Mahligai team has developed a great concept, one which is intriguing for me to execute. We shot the series at dia.lo.gue Kemang, who has got a fantastic interior look. It was a smooth sailing shoot so the whole thing perhaps couldn’t be better. Just before our ‘long holiday’ last August, I did this shoot for Jeffry Tan Fall/Winter 2011 collections. It’s quite a short process. Jeffry,Yang and I discussed most of the things by email and met once just before the shoot. But I have a good time knowing and working with everyone. Every year Jakarta Fashion Week presents the work of Indonesian best designers. Last night was the first time I tried to shoot a fashion show, usually I just came to enjoy the show. It was pretty fun experience, especially with my old film camera and black & white film. Thanks to Lorraine for the invitation : ) So here’s the show in ‘film noir’.
