The Joy of Holding Your Tiny Little Foot

July 21, 2015 Family

It was the end of 2014 on December, a beautiful gift has been given to the lovely couple, Paula and Rubens, where they welcomed Maya into this world. The joyful feeling filled their home and their relatives couldn’t be more ecstatic to welcome a new addition to their family. Maya is so loved already by her parents, especially Rubens’s parents who live in São Paulo that they have to Skype with the little bundle of joy everyday so that Maya will remember her grandma and grandpa who live far away. It’s lovely to see Paula’s motherhood instinct came naturally as Maya arrives in her life and that she is ready to nurture and gives Maya the love she needs.

The Day to Remember

October 23, 2014 Mis·cel·la·ne·ous

20 October 2014, It was truly a remarkable day! Never before the Sudirman Thamrin in Jakarta seen anything like this. That day was the inauguration day of the new president Jokowi and his vice president Jusuf Kalla. Together with four of my colleagues, we went down to the street to shoot what happened on this historic day, where thousand of people gathered at Bundaran HI to see and celebrate the arrival of our new President. I could see from the ground, everyone from the very young one to the old ones were in positive mood despite the usual hot weather at Jakarta. For one moment I thought to myself that we the Indonesian have come so far to be where we are now. We had so many tests in the past that could have destroyed us as a nation. But to see so many people from different backgrounds on the street along with the parades of Indonesian culture from different ethnics gave me a lot of reasons to be optimistic for the future. So when the new president finally arrived, the crowd erupted! Calling and singing his name even louder. President Jokowi represents hope and optimism for many Indonesian. He came from a very humble beginnings. He’s proven that he’s here to serve the people. He stay closely and directly with us ever since he became a public officer. He is one of us. Right after he was declared a victory at the presidential election, he called for number 3 (united Indonesia) and forget about the rivalry between number 1 & number 2. And on his first speech as the president he called for every Indonesian to work hard. Two simple asks from a very simple man if we ever want to become one of the great nations. So the question now is not can he do it? But can we, the Indonesian people do it? A new chapter in our nation’s history has begun. 20 October 2014, is the day to remember.

Fashion Hall of Fame 2014 by Indonesia Tatler & Tex Saverio

September 11, 2014 Fashion

How I really miss the old days when I shot with black and white film. I never forget my favorite black and white film was always Fuji Neopan iso 400. The high contrast and the grain was second to none for me. But those days were long gone. These pictures were taken at Fashion Hall of Fame 2014, 28 August 2014, which was brought by Indonesia Tatler and Tex Saverio. Once I walked into the lobby, I knew this event would look absolutely wonderful in black and white. Thanks to Indonesia Tatler for having me. The missing dream of black and white came right back that night.

Nigel Barker in Jakarta

September 30, 2013 Fashion

It excites me to take this assignment for Mobiliari Group, the publisher of Indonesia Tatler who wanted us to shoot this event for them. The event was a welcoming party for Nigel Barker to Jakarta, who was sponsored by Mobiliari Group to do an exclusive photo shoot for Indonesia Tatler and Jetgala magazine. For most people, Nigel Barker was well-known for his appearance as a former judge in America’s Next Top Model. But besides working on TV shows, he is also an author, filmmaker and photographer. The night was hosted by gorgeous Joey Mead King, the Asia’s Next Top Model mentor. It was raining hard a couple of hours before the event started but it didn’t really matter for the crowd who were up for a good party time. You may want to check out the video below! Seeing a New Hope

October 17, 2012 Mis·cel·la·ne·ous

15 October 2012 It all began when I was on my way to work and tuned in to the radio. That morning I listened to JakFM, where their famous radio announcer Ronal and Tike were discussing about the big event of the day, the new elected Governor, Jokowi and Basuki inauguration. Suddenly I was thinking to come down and shoot something there, but then I was also thinking what if I lost my wallet there. That could be a disaster. After few minutes of thinking, I decided to go. So I texted my colleague at work,”Let’s prepare some cameras, we’re going to DPRD (The People Representatives House)!” I didn’t and never plan this. I just wanted to feel the power and the enthusiasm that people brought. Like many times before, people have been fooled by an effective campaign tag ‘It’s time to change’ or ‘The change is now’. With a campaign tag ‘Jakarta Baru’, it’s more or less the same strategy. People bought it, but people have seen his work at Solo, so there’s a strong reason why we should go and back for this new leader. For the first time I didn’t want to see it from TV. Just like thousand of Jakarta people who came to DPRD at Kebon Sirih, I wanted to see the face of this new hope from close, from the street. Beyond Jokowi and Basuki faces, these people see and expect a better system, from welfare, transportation to health service. People who stood next to me often shouted,”Jangan lupa kartu sehatnya pak!” Another shouted,”Abis kartu sehat, kartu ATM BCA nya pak!” It’s hillarious at times. The wide Kebon Sirih street is full of people. Men, women, and also children. Before Jokowi showed up, the crowd sang the Jokowi’s anthemn,”Jokowi siapa yang punya? Basuki siapa yang punya?” They went wild the moment Jokowi showed up at the stage. Together they shouted his name,”Jokowiii, Jokowii, Jokowi!” This experience left me with one big question,”Can they deliver?” The expectation is so huge and yet the work can be described as complex. With the right mindset and work ethic, I believe they can. But only time will tell.

By the Grace of God

September 26, 2012 maternity

For all these years, I hadn’t seen and felt anything more amazing, more miraculous than the time of my first son’s birth. The moments of leaving the house 6.00 a.m in the morning, the anxiety of waiting, the feeling of hearing our baby first cried, the smile of my wife when she’s holding tight our baby. The happiness we shared with everyone who came to visit. The tears of joy. We had everything. And we thank God for His biggest Gift. These are the series from the birth of my first son from my own eyes. The wonderful days that would change my life forever. And it’s only possible because of His Grace. Our Island In The Sun

January 25, 2012 Mis·cel·la·ne·ous

So, two days after the wedding, Lia and I were off to Lombok for the honeymoon. We had a couple of reasons why we chose Lombok as our honeymoon destination. First and foremost because we never been to Lombok before. Lia always wanted Bali, but I’ve been a solo traveller for the past 11 years, I knew there’s always something special waiting for you if you went to visit a new destination. Second, we wanted a quiet and peaceful place. In the end, we spent two nights in Lombok at Qunci Villas, which is located at Senggigi. We found out about Qunci from a travel fair in Jakarta, where we accidentally met my doctor and my dentist, who happened to be husband & wife and just returned from their 2nd honeymoon at Qunci. Lombok itself is generally a quiet and remote place, there’s no chance a traffic jam like in Bali should happen here. Lombok’s Kuta beach was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Until this day, our honeymoon’s memory are such a wonderful thing to have. Qunci was an excellent place to stay. The place has so many things to please your senses. I remembered one morning when we had breakfast facing the sea accompanied with Billie Holiday’s songs, that’s the perfect peacefulness we’re looking for. For you who never been to Lombok, I just gave you my recommendation. One day we will return, we don’t know when. But one thing we know, we have found our island in the sun. It’s a beauty!

I just want to say that I’m very pleased that finally I can put up some of Sopha & Co. designs on our website. I know Diana, the creator of Sopha & Co for few years but more importantly I know exactly her passion for art and designs. So I’m hoping this bit of information can be helpful for you who are looking for card designs be it for weddings or birthday invitations. Anyway I’m not putting their contact number here because you have to visit their website. You’ll find plenty of useful stuff there.
