Sarah & Garrett’s wedding was one of my favorite weddings in 2013. I should’ve blogged this a while ago. It was a beautiful day filled with lots of joy. Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Kenneth & Ockta wedding on 4 January 2014 was the first wedding we shot in 2014. What a time to start a new year! Because this was our first opportunity to shoot a wedding in Singapore. But when our flight was delayed for about 2 hours a day before, it certainly wasn’t the kind of start we were looking for. About 10 p.m that evening, we met with Kenneth & Ockta at the Fullerton hotel to check the venue. I could feel they both really looked forward to the big day. So the next day, It was still dark outside when we left our hotel about 5 in the morning. We took a bus ride to get to the Fullerton hotel because we never go with a bus when we shoot in Jakarta, so we wanted to give it a try. We had all the space for our bags and equipments since there were only few people on the bus apart from us. Felt like we had a private bus and the bus stopped only about 50 meters from the hotel. We enjoyed this experience a lot. Everything just went very well. Kenneth and Ockta must have felt so much love on that beautiful day. These pictures say everything about their happiest day. By the way, if you decide to watch their wedding trailer at the end of this post, I finally understood a couple of months later why the flight had to be delayed. Because if it hadn’t happened the way it happened, we wouldn’t have that beautiful sunset sky shot above Singapore. Kenneth & Ockta (Trailer) from Andrew Octaviano on Vimeo.
There are different ways how people celebrate their wedding. For David & Anka, they chose the hard way. Their way. And I don’t mean hard as negatives. I saw they were so excited and that made everyone around them feeling as excited. Having just a little sleep and doing early make up didn’t seem to affect Anka’s energy level. Everyone was in a groovy mood, and for me it only means one thing, we’re gonna get some beautiful pictures. Check out the trailer at the end of this post, it’s worth watching twice! I’m afraid that I can’t say too much about this couple. I just love the fact Andhika and Cynthia are among the most honest and humble persons I ever met. And it all began during our first meeting, when I accompanied Anne, my manager, who just got out from the hospital, to do the presentation. When we finished the presentation, they’ve been very clear that they would like us to be a part of their wedding. So the rest was practically just small details. I always knew they would make so many perfect frames together. I had real tough times choosing my favorite pictures of them. After all, how can you choose with so many frames like these? Natural love.
After such a busy period of shooting weddings in the last quarter of 2012, Agnes and Jimmy wedding happened to be the last wedding that I shot in 2012. And I guess there couldn’t be a better way of ending my work season in 2012. Both Agnes and Jimmy live in Singapore, and like any other couples who are tying the knot in Bali, they wanted their close family and friends to be there with them and shared this precious moments. They enjoyed the day from early in the morning right to the end of the evening. Great venue, great family and friends, perfect weather. All is set for a nice story. Now it’s time for you to see how the story unfolded.
I still remembered my first meeting with Yasmin. We’re just about to close our studio and she walked in to the studio. So I sat with her in the gallery, where we had a such a lively chat about 45 minutes. She shared some stories about her background, her fiance and her upcoming wedding in Lombok. And it was some of the most unique stories. At one point, Yasmin told me that her family conservative Arabic background has prevented her to see her fiance after sunset, and even if they went to dinner, they had to be accompanied by someone else, and I followed by saying to her, ‘I can’t imagine what kind of first night you’ll be having.’ Then we couldn’t help ourselves having a big laugh about it. After she left, I was always looking forward to her wedding. Yasmin & Ghozy wedding was truly such an unforgettable 3 days event. Many believed in Lombok that their wedding at the end of last year, was the biggest and grandest wedding in Lombok last year. With all the VIP who’s there and more than 2000 guests at the wedding reception, it was just a bit hard to believe that it was happening there. But my memory is not about the wedding reception, my memory was the warmth of Yasmin & Ghozy family, the people around them, the new wedding culture that I was able to experienced, and the moment we all said goodbye before heading back to Jakarta. And for all these things I would always be forever grateful. At some point, I thought my memories about Lombok would always be about my first honeymoon with my wife, but in my next visit to Lombok, I know that this memory will also come back to mind. I’m a believer that God was the only one that can bring man and woman together so I’m often curious to understand where or how two people met. I found out from Melissa that she and Abrizal met during their college time in the U.S. And in the same college, Melissa older sisters also met a man who eventually became her husband. What a great destiny I think. I suppose they could be looking forward to many more trips together, but as a family. After years of relationship, it looks like this is the day they’ve been waiting for. Melissa and Abrizal looked happier when they’re joined as one. I don’t think I could ask for more.
If I were to shoot a first dance scene for a movie, I would probably couldn’t be happier with the pictures I got from Elaine & Harry first dance. But.. this is not a movie. No direction, let alone a re-take. Elaine and Harry tied the knot in Bali about a month prior to this beautiful dinner reception, which was held at Harry’s family residence. And it looked to me they felt very much at home. Perhaps that was my extra blessing that evening. You might have heard many times that you can see a couple’s chemistry when they looked at each other. In this case, I’m afraid that didn’t really apply to them. They could look anywhere and you could see clearly the chemistry between them. If someone asks me to pick my favorite shot on the night, it will be the black and white picture, just when they’re entering. And when I shot the first dance, the one I put on top of this post.. I probably has lost a word to describe. Elaine and Harry are a match made in heaven. N.B : wonderful flowers and decoration by Amarilis
