Bazaar Wedding 2011

April 20, 2011 Mis·cel·la·ne·ous

It’s the second time we participate in Bazaar Wedding Exhibition and we had an idea of having two booths at different spots, one for photography works and one for the short films. Mini gallery and mini theatre. So naturally, we give away postcards and popcorns to our guest and fellow vendors. Last year which happened to be our first ever exhibition felt very special, but this time felt even more special because it was tougher. I really need to thank everyone who involved in the process, who helped us in emergency, who put their mind, effort and heart for this. After weeks of hard work and sleepless night, I’m extremely glad it’s over. We definitely pulled it off! You can find more pictures on the exhibition here

Steven & Melisa

March 18, 2011 Weddings

I knew Melisa since I did the wedding pictures of her twin sister, Melina few years ago. Never heard a story that she had a relationship in the last couple of years, but one day the news came out from her, she’s getting married. if I remember correctly this was how the news came out from her, ‘How much does it cost for you to do the wedding pictures now?” ; p Anyway, the lucky man is Steven. I call them Mr. & Mrs. Banker, as Melisa often call me Mr. Photo. They both are cool guys to chat, who often share some of their investment & business tips when we met. These are their happiest moments. I’m glad you both look very happy now as husband and wife.

Winarto & Cheryl

March 1, 2011 Portrait

I had a little bit of fun last week, shooting Winarto & Cheryl at the studio with all the flying papers and some groovy music. For people who gets up early every morning, and watch Metro Pagi you may already familiar with Cheryl. I first knew Cheryl only about seven months ago and I’m not a morning person. When she told me about her routines, I was pretty impressed. She leaves home about 3 a.m almost every morning and start on air 4.30 a.m then she still have to work in the office until 11 a.m. So just days after we met, when I needed to leave for the airport very early, I switched on the TV with a little bit of curiosity and there she was, facing the camera, bringing the world and local current affair into discussion. I was impressed. Few weeks after I met Cheryl, she introduced me to her fiance, Winarto. It was my first impression to Winarto that made me admire him. He left his car behind and came to my place by ojek because he wanted to avoid the traffic and be on time for our meeting. Such a humble and cool guy. Soon enough I can see few other things which made Cheryl fell for him. For you who like their portrait, there’s no real secret for these beautiful portraits. It’s only because we found chemistry among us. So everything became pretty easy. Now I can’t wait to shoot their wedding day this weekend.

Jocelin & Budi

February 2, 2011 Weddings

Jocelin met Budi among those cold cities of Hamburg, Munich or Berlin. I never met Budi before and I was kind of expecting a ‘cold’ German personality. But I was glad that he wasn’t like how I pictured him. He’s a warm person. Jocelin is an old friend, a unique one. Most notably one who doesn’t like to put make up on her face or dress up too much. She talks freely and straight to her point and she’s like this even before she lived in Germany. Their wedding party was the most ideal wedding party I had in mind for a long time. A small and intimate wedding, where you can enjoy the company of your close family and friends. Since they both lived in Europe for more than 8 years, I felt the European architecture of Gran Mahakam Hotel was the perfect choice. Here’s their happiest moments. Cheerss !!

Indra & Karen

January 8, 2011 Pre-Wedding Portrait

30 November 2010, I arrived at the airport with my fiance at 6 AM, we were pretty relaxed since we still had two and a half hours before departure. One hour before departure, Indra & Karen haven’t made it to the airport because of the re-route and the traffic. They finally arrived half hour before the departure. I knew it was too late for them, so we took off and they had to catch the next flight. When we finally met at the Singapore airport and checked into the hotel about 3 PM, the rain started to fall and it was quite long until the rain stopped. Sometimes we just have to accept when things didn’t go as we planned. I knew everything was going to be fine even with the rain. We just had to take it as a gift from God. If you watch the first picture and the last four pictures on this post, you can see how the rain made the difference on the street, it made a reflection and added another feeling to the pictures. It’s actually been a long time since me and Karen knew each other. We went into the same elementary school, but never really got close until 6 months ago. Karen has a very good career and she earned it. She works hard every day and she probably worked harder than me to make this photo shoot happened. Indra is very composed, he doesn’t talk too much. but working with him was very much an enjoyable experience. It’s a shame I can’t be there on your wedding, so here’s my congratulation. Hope this will be the first and the last for both of you!

Brisbane 14 October 2010

January 4, 2011 Travel

Brisbane, 14 October 2010 was a good day to remember. June 2003, I left Brisbane and I wondered when I’d returned. I left friends and missed so many things about this little city. I was told that the city have been improved in many ways, in which there are more people live and work in Brisbane, the city has more traffic jam, etc. I’ve been promising my fiance that one day I would take her to the cities I used to live, Brisbane and London. And after 7 years, I finally had the opportunity to return. It was a special and nostalgic feeling. I showed my fiance the University I used to go, the flat I used to stay, my favorite’s place to eat, and some other spots on the city. I couldn’t really describe the feeling. This series of black and white photographs were taken during lunch hour around Brisbane downtown. Some people know how I love doing travel photography. That day was beyond a joy.

Aaron, Tata + Amelie

December 24, 2010 Family

The idea of this photo shoot has been there ever since Tata gave birth to Amelie. But everyone knows that a new family is always very busy. Until a week ago, the idea came back and yesterday Aaron & Tata came in with their 5 months old baby Amelie. And what a perfect time to wear the Santa’s cloth! With having Amelie around, Aaron and Tata looked a lot happier. It’s obvious what Amelie means to both of them. So I wish Amelie will make her parents proud one day. I also like to say Happy Mother’s Day and Merry X’mas to everyone ! Have a great holiday!

Uchie & Erick

November 29, 2010 Weddings

Uchie & Erick’s wedding is one of the weddings that I shall remember for a long time. How could I forget being stuck at the highway at 3.30 AM ? AM not PM fellas. That was seriously depressing at the time. But, that was one of those things that reminded me if we want to achieve our goals then we’ll have to fight and earn it. Thankfully, I still got to Uchie’s place on time. I got to know Uchie & Erick from her besties, Yuli, my dearest friend and client. Uchie and Erick shared a lot of interesting stories during the pre-wedding photo shoot about their long relationship, the nature of their work at oil industry and last but not least their wedding preparation. Well, they’ve been together since junior high school so I can assume, they had a pretty big crush on each other. As time goes by, nothing can separate them from the love they have. I accidently met them a couple days before Lebaran, it came a bit of a surprise that Uchie’s expecting a baby. And they looked very happy together as a family. It almost felt like the happiness they showed on their wedding day : )
